SCOTT ALLEN ROBERSON
born May 27, 1961 died November 3, 1998
Scott was 37 years old when he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest.
He had suffered for many years with diagnosed clinical depression. We now believe that this was very likely a lifelong condition.
Few people were aware of his depression, as he hid it very effectively. His outward appearance was jovial and relaxed. He
had a wonderful sense of humor and could relate an everyday occurrence into a delightfully funny story. He had a quick wit
- making hilarious comments about what was going on around him.
He loved
his job at Boeing, Ford Mustangs, politics, hard rock (especially the Who ), the Discovery channel, and Nascar.
Scott
had tried various types of anti-depressants but would stop taking them eventually. He tried counseling, as well, but would
stop after a period of time. I think he was ashamed of his condition and had a hard time acknowledging it. We believe that
Scott finally grew too weary to continue fighting to keep his illness under control. He knew that his depression would be
with him for the rest of his life, and he couldn't face all the years of pain that were still to come.
We miss
him so much, but are slowly learning to live with the loss.
